Allies come together to celebrate next generation of the world’s oldest living culture on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day

4 August 2025

On Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day, Allies for Children recognises the importance of nurturing the next generation of the world’s oldest living culture while empowering them to continue their important legacy and thrive long into the future.

Spokesperson for Allies for Children, Act for Kids Chief Executive Officer Katrina Lines said every person, every business, every organisation has a role in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children not just today, but every day.

“Children are our future, and we all have a responsibility to help ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children can always remain connected to their culture, kin and community, where they have the opportunity to thrive,” Act for Kids chief executive, Dr Katrina Lines, said.

Allies for Children Founding partner and Life Without Barriers Chief Executive Claire Robbs said this year’s theme of Little Footsteps, Big Futures is a powerful motivator.

“Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day is a great opportunity for us all to reflect on our responsibilities to ensure our next generation of leaders and custodians grow up feeling supported and proud of their rich and beautiful culture,” Ms Robbs said.

“That is why we have made a public commitment together to work together and with community to transform how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children are supported, and we can help that by advocating for the direct investment of resources to community control and by supporting the transformation agenda of SNAICC- the National Voice of Our Children.”
