Parliamentary Briefing on Closing the Gap - Target 12

A parliamentary briefing, co-convened by SNAICC, the peak for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, Allies for Children, and the First Nations NGO Alliance will be held on 26 March 2026 to share alternative pathways for progress on Closing the Gap Target 12.
The event, to be emceed by the Hon Linda Burney, former Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs, will showcase collaborative action in non-government organisations that can make a substantial contribution to achieving Target 12.
The briefing will bring together Aboriginal Community‑Controlled Organisations, First Nations leaders, mainstream organisation CEO’s, people with lived experience of out‑of‑home care, and non‑Indigenous organisations to highlight partnership reform and the systemic shifts required to accelerate measurable outcomes.
